Description
My Mommy’s Boyfriend is an illustrated children’s book that introduces young readers to a topic that is very common, but hard to talk about. Many children have faced child abuse without even knowing it, and they continue to fall victim to predatory experiences because of their lack of awareness on this subject. Written by Theresa Bowe, My Mommy’s Boyfriend teaches kids that this subject exists, what to do if they ever encounter this situation, and more importantly, that confiding in multiple trusted adults is a major component in putting an end to child abuse.
This book also conveys that unwanted touch, secret-keeping, and punishments are common signs that child abuse is happening to children. My Mommy’s Boyfriend emphasizes the phrase “Don’t Touch Me” so children know to use these words if they ever become a victim.
Theresa underwent child molestation at age 12, and she had never heard of child abuse when it happened to her. Theresa uses her platform, and her first-hand knowledge, to educate young children and bring awareness to the common signs of child molestation.
Proceeds from this book will support the “Don’t Touch Me” 501C3.
